Journey:

Starting in La Linea de la Conception in Spain with the dramatic backdrop of the Rock in Gibraltar, you home for the 10 days will be our 70ft steel yacht Global Survivor.

Your first day you will be heading for the Strait of Gibraltar, for the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on the Northern tip of Africa. Wander the streets of the Ancient city which dates back to 1st Millennium BC, the walls and fortress which are at the heart of the town are worth the visit. Leaving Spanish waters will see the Moroccan flag being hoisted and you will sail the 30 NM to Tangier. Tangier boasts a 1000 year old  market locally known as the souks, on your journey south is the old town of Rabat, this is the home of the king of Morocco, well worth a visit is the 800 year old hammam spa, one of our previous crew said that the spa left them cleaner than they had ever felt before!  The next harbour is El Jadida which is most famous for being a UNESCO heritage site. It has one of the most beautiful old towns and fortresses on the African coast, a well-deserved pit stop at one of the towns’ romantic cafes. The last stop for Morocco is Essaouira, it boasts a well preserved Medina, and is the destination for surfers, the culture is different to the other more traditional Moroccan towns, here there is live street music which is in stark contrast to the traditional architecture. We will follow south the Moroccan coast before doing a 60 mile offshore passage to Lanzarote where you will have time to visit the capital of Arrecife and Marina Lanzarote before your final destination of Puerto Calero.

The 10 day adventure will be led by either our Chief or Senior Instructors Danny or Ales, the passages will be a combination of day and overnight sailing to make the most of your time ashore. Both Danny and Ales are Yachtmaster Instructors so whether you are an experienced sailor or novice they will be able to pass on some tips along the way.

Starting your journey

We'll let you know everything you need to get to and from either Gibraltar or Lanzarote based on our previous experience.

The closest airport to La Linea de la Conception is Gibraltar which is about a 15 minute walk from the marina of course time should be factored in to pass through security, the alternative is Malaga which is 3 hours by bus and costs around £15.  If you are starting this trip in Lanzarote your starting marina will be Puerto Calero which is about 20 minutes from the main airport, £15 by taxi or by catching the 161 bus from outside of the terminal building.

You will be with real professionals who have years of experience of offshore sailing. If you fancy pushing yourself then this journey is for you, if you are an aspiring Yachtmaster then you will gain two of your qualifying passages and around 600 tidal NM. As with any sailing adventure, we will do everything we can to get you there and we have an excellent track record - however, your safety is most important to us and if weather decides to be against us we may decide on some alternative destinations.
